RUGBY FOOTBALL.
SATURDAY’S PROGRAMME. UNIVERSITY MEET KIA TOA. Winners of last week meet in the featured match of the Manawatu Rugby Union’s inter-club competitions this Saturday—Kia Toa, who beat Feilding Old Boys, being matched with University, who accounted for Air Force. The early meeting of these teams will be oi more than usual interest in view of Kia Toa’s years of supremacy in this union until their downfall at- the hands of University, last season. The match will begin at 3 p.m. on the Showgrounds oval. The earlier match, at 1.30 p.m. will he between Air Force and United and here, too, . there should be a good struggle. United were too good for St. Patrick’s, and Air Force can give a much better display than they did last Saturday once they settle down. At the rear of the main stand at 3 p.m. Old Boys and St. Patrick’s will be matched. In this encounter also there is a large degree of uncertainty, for the teams have not yet, because of only one match having been played, shown what their permanent standard of play may be. ■Feilding patrons will see one of the most interesting matches of the season in the meeting of Feilding and Feilding Old Boys at 3 p.m. on Johnston Park. The initial meeting of the two teams each season is always one of -the main attractions in Feilding inter-club football. The Bunnythoriie and Feilding Old Boys junior teams will provide the curtainraiser.
