KITCHEN GIFT EVENING. . FUNCTION AT NG AWAPURU A. A large number of Ngawapurua and Woodville residents gathered at the Ngawapurua Hall on Tuesday evening to honour Miss Lexie Aplin who is shortly’ to be married. The function took the form of a kitchen gift evening. Mr J. Hanaray, on behalf of those present, asked the guest of honour to accept the many gifts as a token of the esteem in which she is held. Most of the evening was spent in dancing to music supplied by Mr L. Spelman. Extras were played by Mr H. J. McPeak and the M.Cwas Mr G. lsakson. Interest was lent to the evening by several competitions, a “mystery parcel” being won by Miss Aplin and Monte Carlo dances by Miss Peggy McPeak and Mr L. Spelman and Mrs Coulter and Mr M. A. Judd. After the supper interval, Mi’s Coulter (president), on behalf of the Ngawapurua Women’s Institute, presented Miss Aplin with a glass salad bowl. The guest of honour, she said, was a valued member of the institute and her fellow members would wish her success and happiness in the future. Mr M. A. Judd returned thanks for the gifts and sentiments expressed on behalf of his fiancee.
