Per Press Assoeiation. ASHBURTON, May 8. As a result of three clays’ heavy rain throughout the country, the rivers are in high flood and arc still rising swiftly. The approach to a temporary bridge at Hinds, on the main south road, has been washed away and the bridge is likely to go. Moronnn Road, the alternative highway to the south, is under water and through traffic is making a long detour towards the coast. The south approach to the Ashburton bridge is crumbling and trains are crossing bridges at reduced speeds. There is 3 ft. of water on a low-lying area of the golf links on the bank of the Ashburton.
