Air S. Oxoiiliam was m the chair at a well-attended National ■ Party meeting. Ho presented a report on the. annual meeting of the Alanawnlu electorate which he and Air L. Neweombc (secretary) had attended. Air 11. G. AJ ills, president of Iho Palmerston North branch, delivered ait address, and a musical item was given by Air T. Ranford. There was a fair attendance at the Basketball Club’s annual meeting, when, in the absence of Mr IT. iVood. the chair was taken by Alias Vautier. T lie election of officers resulted : President, Air IT. W. W r ood; -vice-presidents, Mesdames Johanson and Knudscn; captain, Miss W. Vautier; secretary, Aiiss 11. AVood. Mrs A. Frith was appointed representative on tho association social committee and Aiiss 11. Wood delegate to association meetings. Aiiss C. Vautier was re-elected coach, and a vote of thanks was passed to Miss T. Newcombe for the manner in which she had carried out her duties as captain. The secretary's report included the following extracts: There was a membership of 20 and two teams entered ' the competition, nnu being in the intermediate grade and another ill the junior A grade.- Tho first drew with- Takaro for the Barsanli Cup and the second with Ashhurst for the C grade cup. Misses T. Newcombe and L. Speedy were chosen, to play in intermediate representative matches and Aiisses W. Vautier, A . Hodgson and 11. Wood as junior representatives.
Aiiss. 1. Johanson presided over an attendance of ten Bible class members at the meeting held at Air E. F. Johanson s residence. 'There was a fair attendance at the. annual meeting of tho Hall Committee. T ho chairman’s .report disclosed a erodil-bal- | ancc on the year’s working, hut an amount from the building account of the previous year really left a debit balance in the form of a hank overdraft of £3O. It is hoped to have the hall painted as soon as funds allow, also a now tank for tlie kitchen. Air E. lleiiaghan look the chair for the election of officers, which resulted ; Committee, Alessrs J. Alorris, A. Crawford. F. Robinson, IT. Wood, E. Morris, W. McAlurray, L. Neweombc W. Dixon and - R. Puklowski. Air J. E. Alorris was elected chairman, hut Air A. Crawford, who had been secretary for the last, eight years, did not seek re-election and the position lias been held over. Although several former; members of the Basketball Club are unable to play this year, there are' some new members _ amt on Saturday two teams visited the Takaro courts, Where they were both successful. At a mooting of the Women s Institute committee several members handed in balaclavas and hussifs. . Recent visitors io Wellington have included Airs Speedy and Aiisses S. and L. Speedy, Airs R Vautier and Aiiss E. Vautier, Airs K. Johanson and Aiiss 1. Johanson. Air and Airs Badger and Mr F. Eagle. Airs S. Oxenliam is in Christchurch. Aiiss 11. Harrotyfield. is homo for her vacation from Training College.
