ST. ANDREWS TEAM IVIN. . The Manawatu Football Association’s championship competitions began on Saturday, when St.. Andrew’s / beat Hovers by 2 goals to nil in the senior grade, and High School beat' Technical School by 4 goals to nil in the junior grade. In the senior grade, Thistle had a bye. For St. Andrew’s,. Harkness scored a goal, the other goal being awarded to St. Andrew’s when Oman, in attempting to clear for Rovers from in front of the goal-mouth, kicked the ball into the net:. Rasmussen, who is a nea' player to this district, excelled •as goalkeeper for , St. Andrew’s. Frankie, at inside right, also proved to be a valuable new, addition to' the team. Mr Hesketli was the referee. In ,the junior competition High School, with a faster team, held the advantage over Technical School- practically throughout the game. Mr’Bennett refereed. -. ,
