WOMEN’S INSTITUTES.
X OUOUA FEDERATION. A meeting of the executive of the Oroua Federation of Women’s Institutes was held" on Friday at the Community Centre in Fending. Those present were Mesdanics W. G. Short (president), A C. MeCorkmdaio, A. K. Drew. W. E. Baker. J. IL Mason, J. Snorle, C. Smith, P. Simpson and C. M. Stanley. Apologies were received from Mesdanics R. H. Guthrie and G. B. Gregory. The president extended a welcome to .all, particularly the members who were’ taking their places on- the executive for the first time. The election of secretary and treasurer resulted in Mrs 0. M. Stanley and Mrs A. K. Drew, rcf-pcctivelv, being appointed/ Vice-presidents, Mesdames A. C. MeCorkindaic and Guthrie and subcommittees: Handcraft, Mcedames Drew (convener), P. Simpson and W. E. Baker; finance, president, secretary and treasurer; Press, Mrs J. H. Mason (Home and Country reports); drama. Mrs Simpson (convenor). Mesdames Drew, , Sporle. Crcgory and Baker; co-ordinating committee, president and vice-nresidcnts: National Council of Women dc’.ecates. Mesdames Short. Drew, and McCorkindnlo. It was decided to apply for a'nis’ance for Maori development work, for demonstrators and material mainly. Institutes were allocated to members within relatively easy roach 0 f their homes. Federation members will thus - be able to give .their help and advice when-' ever needed. Finance was “satisfactory and trustees appointed are Mesdames Short (president) and A. IC. Drew (lion, treasurer); T.he following recommendations for voluntary oreranisers arc to ho sent forward to headquarters; Me=clamrs Short, Gregory, Guthrie and McCorkindale. The next meet- j ing of, the executive-is set for June.
