TRAMPING

RUAHINE CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Ruahine Tramping .Club; last evening, Mr A. Zeinert presided. The-annual report stated, inter alia: —Throughout the past year, which lias been quite a successful one, tramping has made steady progress. Though faced with war conditions during the last six months of the year, we have carried on as usual. Our main objective—the building of the club hut at Rowlett’s Camp—has been achieved. The expenditure on this work was fairly heavy; however, we have something to show ior the money spent, and with continued interest in the club success for the coming year is assured. The roll now stands at 105 as against 77 last year. The following have enlisted, and some are already on active service: —Messrs L. Durrant, K. Tarr, L. Thorne, B. Tipling, A. Ronberg, P. Milner, D. Bull, B. Davis, C. Hurley, J. Mitchell. The season’s schedule was carried out with only one alteration, which was changing the Easter trip to hut building at Howlett’s. How successfully this work was carried out was shown at the last social of the year. The completion of the club hut is the final effort of over two years’ work. This was made possible through the efforts of numerous works parties, and to the organisers and members of these parties we extend our thanks. The year has shown an increasing interest in a very popular sport, ski-ing. Many of our members made regular trips to the ski-ing grounds, and technique has decidedly improved. Thanks are extended to all who have helped the club. In speaking.to the report, the president said that the club had had a very successful year, and lie hoped it would continue to prosper.
