DANISH MINISTER.
RECOGNISED BY BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) Received Mav 2, 10 arm. RUGBY, Mav 1. The Foreign Ilnder-Secretarv (Mr R. A. Butler), in the House of Commons, stated that as a matter of courtesy Britain would continue to accord diplomatic privileges to the Danish Minister in London (Count Reventlowj and his staff, despite the fact that Britain coidd no longer maintain diplomatic relations with Denmark, since it was now under German control, and despite the expulsion from Denmark of Britain’s renresentatives. Tt was not possible, however, for Britain to recognise the Danish Minister as having official status. COMPENSATION FOR BOMBING. When the Danish town of Eshjerg was hit by British bombs through an error in theieailv days of the war Britain accepted liability to pay compensation. At the beginning of March the British Legation in Copenhagen the Danes not yet having made a claim, reminded Denmark of the previous undertaking to pav full compensation. Denmark made public at the time the renewal of the offer by the British Legation, but no statement of damages suffered at Eshjerg had heen received bv Britain before the Nazi invasion. 'Tt is interesting to note that the Nazis arc now implying that Britain withheld the compensation promised.
