COMMEMORATION DAY
HIGH SCHOOL FUNCTIONS. The headmaster (Mr L. J. Wild) presided at the commemoration celebrations of the Feikling Agricultural High School which were continued yesterday. In the morning, in the Assembly Hall, Mr J. Murray, rector of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School, gave an address of great interest to those assembled.
Greetings from old pupils woro read by Mr Wild, the letters and telegrams conveying best wishes for a successful commemoration. A,cablegram was received from Mrs Campbell (nee Muriel Fitzpatrick) and the headmaster said it was indeed pleasing to receive that greeting from America. The chairman also read a list of old pupils who were at present on military service, both in New Zealand and abroad. He solicited information regarding other old pupils who were in camp or had enlisted-and concerning whom he had not received advice. Mr Wild intimated that he desired to keep a complete record of
the old pupils engaged in the present
war. At the conclusion of the mornings activities a commemoration tree was planted in the school grounds by Mr Murray. ’ . ■ * The roll call of old pupils was taken at 2 p.m., when the afternoon’s activities took the form of a football match and basketball match, the latter being the* first inter-house game of the season. . , For pupils not interested in the foregoing exhibitions of school work in the various departments were arranged and also demonstrations _of pit sawing, shingle splitting, and livestock tests. , „
