CALEDONIAN PIPE BAND.
The annual meeting of the Feilding Caledonian Pipe Band was held on Tuesday, Mr J. Wemyss presiding over a poor attendance. The balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £l2 13s 4d at January 31, was presented by the treasurer (Mr F. A. Dalzell). The assets were given at £485 6s lid. Mr Dalzell said that the equipment was in good order, and he referred to ? the recent contest, which liad been held in bad weather. The entries had been excellent and had the weather been favourable there would have-been a good profit. The president paid tribute to the activities of the ladies’ committee, stating that the band could not exist without its support. Mr D. G. Fraser also commented on the work of the ladies in oioiiiiection with ingleside functions. -
It was mentioned that new equipment had been purchased, Mr Dalzell stating that owing to the restrictions it was now impossible to get certain requirements. Mr N. Cruden questioned the wisdom of buying when the finances were not in a very healthy position, arid suggested that the committee should act immediately it was found that certain activities were not producing the desired results.
The chairman suggested that a special meeting he held in a fortnight’s time to discuss reorganisation.' He felt it was not getting the support it should, and lie deprecated the small attendance. He knew that there were many peonle in the district who were and an effort should he made to secure their active support. Messrs Fraser and Dick supported the suggestion, and a resolution to adjourn •the • meeting was ,carried, the secretary being instructed to thoroughly advertise the special meeting, at which officers for the ensuing year ..will be elected.
