JUMPERS AT AUCKLAND.
NUMBER GROWING STEADILY. (By “Spectator.”) The number of horses in training for jumping events ahead in the Auckland district is growing steadily and among (ho newer ones schooled at Ellerslic recently an: Vaaiso, Clansman, Orate, King Seng a.iri Armacourt. With the exception of Armacourt all showed j some aptitude for their work. The latest addition lo M. O’Connor’s team is Right . Royal. This horse has shown promise over hurdles and country and has only to train on to ho a successful jumper. The hunter Makoi did not take long to prove payable to the Ellerslic trainer G. Holland. He yon both hurdle races in good style at Whangaroi, and promises to go on to further success as a hurdler. In spite of two disappoint; ing efforts Lapidarian is not likely to go out of favour. lie has more speed than the average jumper and over easy country at Pukckohe will be seriously considered in the steeplechase. Southern Jumper. Guste, the winner of the steeplechase at In vcrcargill, might possibly develop much better form. He is a five-year-old gelding by the Soiferino horse Gustavo, from An-
dante, by Claronccux —Chanlvess, b'- R*vkenhoad—Chant, by The Officer—Lullaby, bv Apremont. It is an old Knramu family. Team Transferred. Coronation, Cheddington, and the other horses trained by F. Davis were transferred recently to Matamatn, whore they will be prepared in future. Cheddington is developing into a grand colt, though lie has not yet thrown off the soreness that necessitated him missing his autumn engagements.
