RANGITIKEI.
MARTON, April 25. At a special meeting of the ivangitikei Hockey Sub-Association, Air W. G. Aitken presided. Alessrs Aitken and W. J. Mogridgo, delegates to the Feikling Association, reported on their recent visit when the meeting decided to support the Rangitikei application, to become a major association to conduct the women’s hockey competitions with the present Fcilding boundaries. A resolution was passed that the application be sent to the New Zealand Association, it was decided to make application to the Alinister of Transport for specnal petrol coupons to convey teams away from their home grounds, as train arrangements are unsuitable. Air Barton suggested that it be a recommendation to the social committee to continue during the winter, a series of card evenings. A motion along these lines was carried. At the biennial meeting- of householders of the Marton District High School Dr R. A. Church presided. The committee elected lrom the ten nominations is: Alessrs H. D. Barr, A. S. BlacKiedgo, A. Gracie, G. Grey, G. W. Preoce, I\. Rivers, G. C. Thomas, J. F. R. Wallace and A. L. Williams. At a meeting afterwards, Air Wallace was appointed chairman, Air Gracie deputy-chairman, and Air Thomas secretary. Mr J. Aiiscail was elected to the chair at the Marton Junction School. There were 13 nominations for the committee and the eieotion resulted in the return of Alessrs 11. C. Gronn, A. Rowell, J. Alainxvaring, E. Lewis, E. G. Friedrich, J. Aiiscail and T. Wigglesworth. A women’s auxiliary formed to co-operate with the committee in arranging school functions consists of Alesdames A. Watts (convener), G. Al. Ruseoe, Hainsworth, E. Dallas, J. T. Fisher, Alartyn, Grant, Lea, and • iShotter
Evcnfn at the Easter conference of flic | New Zealand Labour Party wore reviewed iat the annual meeting of the lYlarton 'branch, at which ivlr D. <J. Haddock presided. Air Haddock said the action taken to expel one Parliamentary member was fully j unfilled, and it was also his opinion that other members who had been associated with Air J. A. Lee in the Lett AVipg group should be disciplined. It had been reported that there were supporters of the Left Wing among the local membership, and if that were true he wanted them to declare thcmsolrus loyal to the Government or get out. 'ihe following motions were carried: “That this meeting of members of the JNJarlon branch extends to Hon. P. Eraser its congratulations on his elevation to be Prime Al mister of New Zealand and Leader of the New Zealand Labour Party; that wc record our satisfaction of Air Eraser’s representation of New Zealand during bio visit oycisoas and consultations with the Home Government in regard lo the co-operation of the Dominion with Great Britain in the Allied war effort, and we pledge our fullest support to the ■ Government in iln defence administration. That this meeting expresses its condemnation of that section commonly known as the Left Wing in its actions against the Government, and expresses its confidence in All* hrascr as Prime A 1 iui--'ter, and commends the branches for having censored members for their disloyalty to the Labour Party. We suggest that other electorates which the disloyalists represent should adopt the same attitude. Similar motions were carried at the annual meeting of ihc r i urakina branch.
