A RECIPE.

BUTTER APPLES. Chocse good eating apples all of equal size. Cut circles of stale bread the same size as tlie base of each apple and half an inch in thickness. Put in buttered-fireproof dish with an apple standing on each circle of bread. Fill the centre of each apple with butter that has been worked with sugar. Bake in a slow oven and baste continually with more sweetened butter. Serve in individual dishes with cream.
