CONTROL OF DANUBE.
NAZI DEMANDS RESISTED. ( From Daventry.) Rumanian reports indicate that the Danubian States will now forestall the reported German demand that they should police the Danube. Each of the States will take some measure in policing the river within its own territory. This shows that Rumania and Yugoslavia are not ready to give up their right to control the course of the river in their own territory. The Yugoslav Government lias reacted vigorously to the increasing activity of Nazi agents. In Belgrade a considerable number of arrests were carried out to-duy of people suspected of being connected with the Gestapo, ami this is believed to be the beginning of a campaign to stop German espionage. The British Ministers in the Balkans have concluded their conference in London which started nearly a fortnight ago. It is believed that during their visit they reviewed Balkan affairs from every aspect —political, economic, and cultural, and the exchange of views will help to consolidate British policy in that part of Europe.
