MR C. MOUNTFORT
TO ATTEND MT. STEWART UNVEILING. Yesterday the Mayor (Air T. L. Seddon) and the town clerk (Ain C. H. Tate) waited upon 'Mr Charles Mountfort, East Street, to extend to him personally an invitation to be present at the unveiling of the meim orial at Alt. Stewart and also to present to him his early settlers' ribbon. Air Alountfort is one of the earliest settlers in the Feilding district, and was ■ associated with its early survey. His Tvork involved a number of surveys for the Government. Air Alountfort executed surveys for the Manchester Corporation as far back as 1874. It is also interesting to record that Air Aim.'—'fort was associated with the erection of a trig station oil Alt. Stewart. 'The exact position of the trig is marked by a concrete block which was placed in position under the direction of Air Mountfort in 1877.
