GRANTS OF PETROL.

TRANSPORT TO RUGBY GAMES. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 16. The Minister of Supply (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) announces that representations have been made to him by the New Zealand Rugby Union regarding petrol supplies for the conveyance of football teams when no other transport was available. The union had now agreed to obtain details from the subunions regarding existing transport facilities. ** When no other transport was available the union would make recommendations on petrol grants. The union would reduce its applications to the minimum. “The Government feels that the health and fitness of the community arc just as important in wartime as in times of peace, and is making available sufficient petrol to enable isolated areas to carry on sports activities,” added the Minister.
