(From Our Own Correspondent.) IjTUWAI. April 12. The Utmvai Women's Institute held its April meeting at the Community Centre, Feilding, and though only about a dozen members were able to attend those who did so held an enjoyable meeting. Mrs I'lavell presided. Resignations from three members were received —Miss llarknoss.. who has taken up a position in Palmerston North, and Mrs W. Roberts and Miss J. Roberts, who are leaving the district. Two delegates were nominated to attend the council meeting to bn held in Feilding. It was decided that, instead of having the premier bloom competition this year, it should be a premier vegetable instead, except when a bloom is specified. A hyacinth competition is to be held in the spring. An education talk was given by Air Somerset on his travels through Franco, Switzerland, Denmark and Germany in 1936. Competitions for May are: Premier vegetable, best rose, and plain girdle scones; roll-call, collection of subscriptions. _ A talk will be given by Mrs Dymock. The hostesses are Mrs and Miss Wingate and Mrs Batchelnr. Airs Flavc 11 was in the chair qt the annual Hall Committee meeting. The secretary (Mr A. Coup) read the report and balance-sheet. A number of improvements have been effected at the hall, which now presents a much enhanced appearance and should be much more comfortable during the winter months. The balance-sheet showcd a credit balance. Airs Flavell stated that one of the committee members, Miss J Roberts, was leaving the district. She had always been one of the most energetic and willing members and on behalf of the hall committee she made a small presentation with best wishes for the future. Officers for the coming year are: Chairman, Mr A. Coup; secretary, Air J. O’Hagati; ladies’ committee Alcsdames O. I' lavell, C. Searle, C. Vilcs and Aliss 0. Ileiiiniings; men’s’ committee. Messrs K. Searle, IT. Atackcnzic, 11. Vilos, L. Port, 11. lleini and J Roberts. It was decided to bold a “working hoe” at the hall and to commence card parties.
