HIGH SCHOOL

BOARD OF MANAGERS. The Feilding Agricultural High School Board of Managers met last evening, Mr J. Knight presiding. Also present were Mrs J. E. Bnrltrop, Messrs T. S. Goldsmith, A. C. Buist, W. Andrews, E. 11. Brewer, J. S. Tingey, T. L. Seddon and W. Challis, and the headmaster (Mr L, J. Wild). A motion of sympathy in the death of Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage was passed, the chairman stating that a letter had been forwarded to the then ActingPrime Minister (Hon. P. Fraser) immediately advice had been received of the Prime Minister’s death. An acknowledgment of the letter was read to the meeting. The resignation of Miss Beattie, of the teaching staff, was received with regret.

jtie board approved of a.n appeal sponsored by the National Patriotic Council for the collection of non-fer-rous metals by pupils of schools. The headmaster’s report stated: On April 3 about 180 pupils from the school went by special train to Wellington to see the Exhibition. 1 do not think that there is any pupil in the school who lias .not visited the Exhibition at one time or another. Commemoration is now at hand. At the Commemoration Service on the Sunday the preacher will Ix 3 Rev. H. W. Newell, M.A., 8.D., of Wellington. The address will be given on the Wednesday bv Professor Lipson, who occupies the Chair of Public Administration in Victoria College. The other commemoration functions will be held as usual. The school contemplates holding something in the way of an exhibition of work and a show of produce and perhaps of live stock towards the end of the month. This will be something of a revival of the former Young Farmers’ Club Show. The farm report stated that by contrast with the conditions prevailing at this time last year there was abundance of feed on the farm, and most of the stock were doing very well.
