HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING.
WIN FOR SCHMELING. FOORD OUTPOINTED. Received January 31, 9.50 a.m. HAMBURG, Jan. 30. The German heavyweight, Max Sclimeling beat Ben Eoord (South Africa) on points in a twelve .round boxing match to-night. The “ghters arrived at the ringside accompanied by scpiads of Black Guards. Sclimeling dominated the fight from the third round, when he had Fool'd reeling. Foord’s movements were slow and he presented an almost stationary target of which his opponent took full advantage. Foord wasted his energy in wild swings. The crowd was amused by the casual manner in which Schmeling, whose ringcraft was much superior to that of his opponent, measured his man before punching. Schmeling was confident throughout, and was never in difficulties. Schmeling weighed 14st., and Foord 15st. lib. The stadium was packed with 23,000 persons, paying from £9 to 12s 6d for seats.
