PAHIATUA, Jan. 27. In a tennis match for. the Lett Buttons, played on the Mangamutu courts last evening. E. Lett and Miss M. Condor (challengers) beat K. O'Brien and Miss K. O’Brien, 40 —39. In the post-section play of the Pahiatua Bowling Club’s singles championship, R. Pilkinton will meet C. Petersen and G. Kershaw will play R. Tavlor.

A garden party, which proved a success both financially and socially, was held under the joint aegis of the ■Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union and the Women’s Institute, in the Ballance School grounds, yesterday. The golf putting was won by Mr and Mrs R. G. McKenzie, and Miss Bain and Mr Malcolm Harris were the respective winners of the croquet competition. The fixture was concluded in the evening with a dance. v
