SYDNEY’S FESTIVITIES.
ORDERLY CROWDS. SYDNEY, Jan. 28. Mr W. E. Parry (New Zealand Minister of Internal Affairs) expressed admiration for the orderliness of the great crowds of people daily invading Sydney for the festivities. “Happiness, light-heartedness and jollification seem to pervade tbs people, and nowhere in my wanderings have I detected any disorder worth cavilling at,” he said. “The police are ever watchful and tolerant, hut the vast crowds give the impression that they virtually control themselves.”
RECEPTIONS TO VISITORS. SYDNEY'S HOSPITALITY. SYDNEY, Jan. 28. Lady Galway, accompanied by Mrs Arthur Purvis, attended a reception given by the New Zealand ’ Women’s Association of New South Wales. The Australian Governor-General (Lord Gowrie) and Lady Generic gave an official dinner party at the Government House to, senior officers of visting warships. Rear-Admiral Hon. E. R. Drummond, of the New Zealand Division, and Lady Drummond were among the guests.
