LINTON.

(From Our Own CorresDoncJcnt.) LINTON, Jan. 25.

The members of the local Garden Circle spoilt a happy afternoon in tho Church Hall. Mrs Batchelar, convener, wished all the compliments of tho season. The chief business-was to exchange bulbs, now members receiving their collection. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames J Lynch, Quartly and C. Terry. Mr W Eggleton, of the South Island, is the guest of Mr and Mrs E. P.ringle. Miss Joy Trathen. of Nelson, is tho guest of Mr and Mrs Irvine. Mr and Mrs E Crawford are holiday-making at Otaki Beach. Mr and Mrs W. Gilliland and family have returned from a holiday at Wuikanue Beach. Mr and Mrs S. Wilson arc spending a month’s holiday in New Plymouth. Mr and Mrs K. Russell and Misses A. and N. Russell have returnod from a fortnight’s holiday in Napier. Miss B. Algie has returned home. Messrs T. and S. Algie have been touring the North Island and have returned homo. Miss Zelina Terry is holiday-making in Hawke's Bay. Miss K. Bergin is the guest of Mr and Mrs J. Lynch. V The long spell of beautiful summer weather came suddenly to tho finish on Sunday afternoon, when the air turned colder and the wind became stronger. Slight rain fell and by the early hours* of Monday morning terrific winds to gale force blew.
