DIRECTOR OF AIR MATERIAL.
A BRITISH APPOINTMENT. LONDON, Jan. 24. In connection with the fleet air arm Captain M. W. S. Boucher, commander of the aircraft-carrier Courageous, has been appointed Director of Air Materia], including responsibility for direct supply from manufacturers. Captain Boucher was born on December 19, 1888, and entered the Navy as a cadet in 1904. He was made a commander in 1923. and a captain in 1930. He served in the Great War, and was awarded the D.S.O. In 1925 he qualified as an air pilot, and he was attached to the Directorate of Training, Air Ministry, from 1929 to 1931. In 1931-32 he commanded H.M.S. Champion, and in 1933-34 was attached to the Naval Air Division of the Admiralty.
EXPANSION OF AIR ARM. DUTIES OF NEW OFFICERS. (British Official Wireless.) Received Januarv 25, 10.37 a.m. RUGBY, Jan. 24. A further step in the expansion of the fleet air arm, has been taken with the appointment of £aptain M. Boucher as Director of Air Material and Captain H. McWilliam, as Director of Air Personnel. The duties of these two officers will include arranging for direct susplies from manufacturers to the Fleet Air Arm and the selection of additional officers and men for training purposes.
