DRY SPELL BROKEN.

RAIN WELCOMED. Anxiety caused by the continued dry spell was allayed yesterday when steady rain commenced to fall in the Feilding district and continued throughout last night. It was still raining this morning and prospects of a copious fall were bright. The rain was preceded by a drop in the _ temperature and a strong easterly wind. Mr F. Mason, Sandon Road, reports that for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. to-day .45in. of rain fell and the barometer reading at that hour was 29.55.
