MANAWATU B. RETAIN CUP.
MATCH WITH FEILDING. Responding to Feilding’s 250 runs, the Manawatu second eleven scored 311 for the loss of five wickets in the representative cricket match for the Goldfinch and Cousins Clip and thus retained the trophy. Dnnn was top scorer for the visitors with 88, his knock being composed of a variety of bright strokes. Carter scored 49 and Bennett, always aggressive, hit 24 out of his 25 off two overs. Fitzpatrick also scored 25. Bowling for Manawatu Waters was the most successful, capturing four wickets at a. cost of 6G runs, while Jennings took three for 87.
Only one Manawatu player failed to reach double figures, J. Ward scoring 101, not out. N. Waters 65, not out, W. Cameron 56 and C. Edlin 33. Feilding tried no fewer than eight bowlers, Barltrop, Smith, Dewe and Fisher capturing one wicket each.
