SCOTS FOREGATHER.
SOCIETY’S ANNUAL PICNIC. The annual picnic of the Manawatu Scottish Society was held to-day at the Awapuni Racecourse under ideal weather conditions. There was no mistaking that it was a Highland gathering, the skirl of the pipes and the swish of the kilt lending the desired Scottish atmosphere. The attendance was particularly good and altogether u most enjoyable time was spent in foot races and other competitions. The younger people were especially well catered for. The arrangements were in the hands of the chief (Mr J.. S. Jenkinson) and his enthusiastic committee, who lett no stone unturned in an endeavour to make the 1938 picnic, the most successful yet held.
