Mr J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Undersecretary in charge of housing, is to visit Pahiatua and Dannevirke on Monday. A Gazette notice notifies the appointment of M. Gabriel M. A. Pouquet as Consul for France at' Auckland, for New Zealand. Mr W. T. Wood, 'formerly Mayor of Palmerston North and member of" Parliament for the district, left with Mrs Wood for Sydney last evening. They travelled to New Zealand expressly to attend the diamond jubilee celebrations of Palmerston North in November. Rev. G. B. Stote-Blandy, curate of Epsom, London, since 1935, has accepted sole charge of the parish of Hawera for two years during the absence on a special mission of the vicar, Canon Malcolm. After graduating at Cambridge, Mr Stote-Blandy was ordained deacon in 1935 and priest in 1936. Mr'Namio Nakafuji, Vice-Consul for Japan, has arrived in Wellington to establish a Japanese Consulate-General. The newly-appointed Consul-General (Mr Kiichi Gunji) will arrive from Singapore to take up his duties in March. Mr Makafuji is accompanied by his wife and Mr T. Kako. of the Sydney Consulate, states a Wellington Press Association message. . Mr Arthur Harry Cox, who passed away at Napier this week, was a former resident of Woodville and was one of the first pupils of the Woodville School. On the occasion of the school’s diamond jubilee in September, he visited the town and took part in the celebrations. Several years ago jje was a champion rifle shot and in the early days lie was one of those instrumental in the formation of the Woodville Rifle Club. Me took a keen interest in competitive shooting and was a member of the team when the Coleman Shield was won by the club. The late Mr Cox was a foundation member of the Woodville Tent of Rechabites and up to the time of his death retained an interest in its activities. A sister,Miss Ada Cox, passed away last year. Mrs H. Cox. mother of Air A. H. Cox, will celebrate her 93rd birthday on Alonday.
