POVERTY BAY DRY.
DAIRY FARMERS AFFECTED. GISBORNE, Jan. 20. Despite a thunderstorm which was reported from some parts of the district last evening, Gisborne is still without rain, and the dry spell is seriously affecting dairy farmers, particularly those on light land. Pastures everywhere are brown and farmers are making use of green crops, ' ensilage and roots to keep supplies going. In a few instances stock has had to be driven some distance to streams.
