CHATHAMS SERVICE.
COSTLY TO SHIPOWNERS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 21. After a delay of three days, the steamer Tees will sail for the Chathams to-night. A representative of the owners said to-day that the company were negotiating for the sale of the vessel as she was not paying her way working the open roadstead ports at the Cliathams. This entailed heavy overtime, and five or six members of the crew drew with the overtime higher wages than the master. Until the deal was completed the Tees would maintain the island service.
