COURT BUSINESS.

WELLINGTON STATISTICS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. Over 7000 criminal cases were dealt with by Magistrates and Justices of the Peace at Wellington during the past year. Court statistics show that there were 7498 criminal cases, and if the 702 heard in the Children’s Court are taken into account the total reaches 8200. The figures for each successive quarter are: Males, 1270, 1482, 1893, 2281; fe tales, 119, 156, 147, 150. The Children’s Court figures are:— Males, 140, 200, 215, 101; females, 14, 12, 9, 11. Fees and fines for the year totalled £12,667 10s. Civil plaints for each successive quarter were 1516, 1735, 1386, 1379 and the total amounts sued for £30,524, £28,498 14s 9d, £17,482 13s 9d, £21,055 is.
