HOPES IN BRITAIN. DUBLIN, Jan. 15. Although there was a gale in the Irish Channel, Mr de Valera had rarely smiled so cheerfully as when he departed for London. It is hoped in Dublin that even if the conference does not bring about tlie end of partition it may result in a series of steps toward that aim.
