(From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, Jan. 14. The annual meeting of the Apiti Athletic Club was held on Wednesday evening. There was an excellent attendance and Mr W. McKenzie was in the chair. The meeting stood in silence in memory of the late Mr W. McKenzie, who was a life member of the club and wvho had held many different offices through the years. The secretary (Mr C. Osborne) presented the report and balance-sheet. The year had been very successful, both financially and socially, and the finances showed a sound position. The president thanked all for their co-operation and good work during the past season. The election of officers resulted as follows : —Patron, Mr E. H. Cummerfield (re-elected); president, Mr W. McKenzie (re-elected). secretary, Mr C. H. Osborne; assistant secretary, Mr T. W. Pratt (both re-elected); vice presidents, Messrs W. H. Watson. W. T. Pratt J. R. Eliot, T. Nix, G. Cowan, W. Nix, junr., V. McKenzie, A. W. Bird, and J. R. Osborne; gate, Messrs 11. Clifton, J. H. Cowan ,and T. Nix, junr. The date of the sports meeting was decided. The auditor appointed is Mr G. McLeod. The athletic events were revised and it was decided to eliminate the 440yds and the mile. In their place there will bo a 75yds local handicap for maiden runners and 830 yards handicap, same conditions. It is hoped these two events will encourage the local boys. The usual votes of thanks concluded the meeting. ,Ji PERSONAL. Mrs S. H. White leaves to-inorow for a holiday in Wellington. Rev. and Mrs Coombridge leave by car for Auckland on Monday. Mr W. Duncan has returned home. Mrs A. Kirk, of Waipawa, has been the guest of Mr and Mrs J. Jensen.
