A scheme to place a full-scale model of a sailing ship on Mount Victoria to perpetuate the memory of early Wellington and its citizens is in course of development by Mr McintyrC. the president of the New Zealanders Association. He says it would be 200 ft long with a 30ft beam, masts, yards, and running rigging. . A picture of the clipper Taranaki in his possession serves as a basis for the design at the moment, but an earlier model could be used if plans or pictures are available. All round the gunwales bronze tablets would record the names of the men who helped to make Wellington’s history. It would contain cabaret or tearooms. Mr Mclntyre has been promised assistance to carry out the scheme, and an architect is working on the plans.
