OBITUARY
MR DANIEL ADDIS. The death occurred recently of Mr Daniel Addis, an old and highlyrespected resident of the Taihape district. Born in Sydney, he came to New Zealand with his parents in the ’sixties and for some years resided in the Bay of Plenty district. Mr Addis first settled in the Taihape district 54 years ago, and was in the employ of W. J. Birch and Son, of Erewhon and Qruamatua. Later lie took up land on his own account at Pukeokahu, then at Moawhango and Wainui, but about 25 years ago established his home at Kaiewi, about three miles from Taihape. In 1889 he married Mary Ann, the daughter of the late Mr W. Hall, Clive. Mr Addis was one of the founders of the Rangitikei Agricultural and Pastoral Association, of which he was a life member, and for many years had served on local school committees and the Upper Wangaehu Road Board:’ Mr Addis is survived by his widow, three daughters and two sons, Messrs A. O. Addis, Taihape, and S. E. Addis, Wellington. He was predeceased by two sons, who fell in the Great War. Another son died only six days earlier than his father, and another daughter died in 1914.
