(From Our Own Correspondent.) APTIT, Aug. 18. ANGLICAN CHURCH.
There, was a delightful party on Monday evening in honour of Mi? 6 Molly Malone, whoso wedding takes place at the end of the week. It was arranged by Mesdames T. Nix, M. E. A. Martin and Misses Mairo and Madge McKay. Dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by Mrs J. C. Osborne, and Misses P. Pratt and M. McKay, and later by Mrs J. Smith, now of Utuwai. Novelty dances added to tho pleasure and the winners of a lucky spot were Miss Bowlcy and Mr M. Burling. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss Maire McKay' and Mr 11. Vilcs, while in tho Luckv Gay Gordons Mr 3 E. Marshall and Mr A. Vile? won the prizes. Following supper, Mr W. McKay presented Miss Malone with a large collection of gifts and wished the young couple every • happiness. Miss Malone, who was wearing a black taffeta frock, relieved with green, was also tho recipient of beautiful bouquet. It was presented by little Miss Joan Malone, and was tho artistic work of Mrs W H. Watson. Mr Roy Spicer thanked all for their kindly thoughts and gifts. Musical honours were accorded the guests of honour. Mr Ray McKay was M.C.
The quarterly meeting of St. Luke’s Church Committee was held at the home of Mr A. Stanley. There were also present Rev. F. E. Floury, Mcsdaincs W. J. Viles, M. E. A. Martin (lion, treasurer) A. E. Prujean, S. H. White and Mice Stanley, Messrs W. J. Viles (hon. secretary) R. Martin, S. FI. White and E. Payton, junr. Church business was dealt with and preparations for repairing and painting tho church wore discussed. Mrs Martin is donating a rhododendron and Miss Stanley a flowering currant to beautify the church grounds as soon as tho fences are completed. Supper provided by the ladies was served by lYIiss Stanley. A friendly game of cards concluded the evening. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs L. Martin were week-end visitors to Wellington. Other visitors to the Capital City were Messrs. W. J. Osborne, C. Spence, A. E. Prujean, M. McKay, J. Kilgour, D. Kearney, R. Hooper, and J. O’Hagan. Several Apiti residents intend visiting Auckland for the final Test match. Apti is indeed a “hot bod” of Rugby enthusiasts. Mr and Mrs E. Hinds and Miss Hinds, of Palmerston North, and Mr and Mrs Veatman, of Sydney, were week-end visitors to Mr and Mrs H. L. Osborno at Kahiki. KITCHEN EVENING.
