WANTED TO GO TO ENGLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. 16. When lie stowed away in the Tamaroa at Wellington on June 21 and hid behind the boilers. Montague Assender, farm worker, aged, 24, thought he was going to see his parents in England, but, though lie reported to the captain on the first night out and worked well on the voyage, he was put off at Balboa and kept in prison from July 10 to July 24, until placed on board the Mataroa, which returned to Auckland on Saturday.
Before Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., to-day, Assender pleaded guilty to stowing away. The police said that Assender had worked well on both vessels.
