RUGBY FOOTBALL
MANAWATU UNION.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The management committee of the Manawatu Rugby Union met last evening. Those present were Messrs A. M. Ongley (chairman), K. W. Eglinton, J. R. Hardie, W. Carruthers, L. J. Plank, and G. Peters. The Kaiwarra Club (Wellington) asked to be put in touch with a junior club with which a match might he played about September 11. —It was decided to refer the writers to the Old Boys Club. The Horowhenua Rugby Union offered September 4 as the date on which the Rowlands Cup junior representative match could bo played, at Otaki. —The date wa& accepted and it is to be suggested that the match be played at Levin. Mr W. Gleeson was appointed manager of the Manawatu team to play Otago on August 25. The match is to commence at 3.30 p.m. It was decided to assemble the team at Feilding on Thursday and at Palmerston North next Monday for practice. The United third grade team was granted permission to play a Johnson - villo side on August 28.
FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY. The following are the fixtures, grounds and referees for Saturday:— Senior.—Old Boys v. Eeilding Okl Boys, oval, Showgrounds, 3 p.m. (Mr G. Cooksley) ; Eeilding v. Kia Toa, No. 1 Johnston Park, 3 p.m. (Mr O. Pinfold); St. Patrick’s, a bye. Junior.—Old Boys v. St. Patrick’s, oval, Showgrounds, 1.30 p.m. (Mr C. Taylor) ; Feilding Old Boys v. United No. 2 Johnston Park, 3 p.m. (Mr 1< ■ Thomas) ; Kia Toa v. Jackeytown, Jackeytown, 2 p.m. (Mr I*. Tucker). Thirds.—Feilding win by default from Feilding High School; Kia Toa v United, No. 2 Showgrounds, L3O p.m. (Mr A. Neville) ; Old Boys v. P.N. High School, to be arranged; Feilding Old Boys v St. Patrick’s, Feilding H.S. ground, 3 p.m. (Mr P. Waugh).
