ADULT EDUCATION.

IN ESTIMATES

AUCKLAND, Aug. 18,

Further provision for adult education in New Zealand is being made by the Government on this year’s estimates, according to advice received from the Minister of Education (Hon. P. Fraser) by the council of the Auckland University College. Grants totalling £3OOO are to be made in addition to those paid at present. The Minister stated that one grant of £IOOO would comprise an additional £250 to each of the four university colleges for Workers’ Educational Association work. There would also be a grant of £IOOO for adult education generally. This would be distributed through tho University of New Zealand after receipt of recommendations from a special committee that would bo set up. A third grant would be for adult education in public works camps. It was proposed to pay £250 to each of the four university colleges for this service.
