BUTTER MARKET.
LOWER PRICES PROBABLE. LONDON, Aug. 14. The optimism of Tooley Street, like other markets, has not been maintained. Prices broke during midweek and butter sold as much .as 4s down. The effect of this has been to destroy the confidence necessary to a sustained recovery. Some traders anticipate that, apart from spasmodic improvements in the near future, the outlook indicates a lower market developing. Danish remains pegged at 127 s a cwt., but the weakness of Empire butter has caused Siberian and Dutch to fall, and they are now in poor demand at declining Cheese has developed a sympathetic weakness and quotations are nominal.
