PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC.

SPECIAL CONTROL TRIAL. With the object of instructing pedestrians in the correct use of he roadway, where intersections are specially marked, the City Council traffic department conducted a special control trial from 11 a.m. until after noon today at the point where Rangitikei Street intersects with the Square —one of the busiest sections in the city on Saturday mornings. . While one traffic officer was on point duty 'directing motorists, another y«as regulating the flow of pedestrians across the intersection. The trial appeared to prove fairly satisfactory, but it was evident that numerous pedestrians had but an elementary knowledge of the duties required of them, and needed education in the matter of stepping lively when crossing streets where there was heavy traffic, also in overcoming indecision and uncertainty.
