OBITUARY.
MR CHARLES FAIRBROTHER. Tlie death occurred on Wednesday of Mr Charles Fairbrother, a wellknown resident of Dalefield, Carterton, who was in his 75th year. A few months ago Mr Fairbrother attended the jubilee of the Dalefield Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, of which he had been a supplier for 60 years. He had not been in good lieaith for some time. A son of the late Mr and Mrs R. Fairbrother, Carterton, who were among the very early settlers of the district, Mr Fairbrother being the first Mayor of Carterton, Mr Charles I’ airbrother attended the Carterton District High School and then took up dairy-farming. In this he was successful, and he formed a very sound Friesian herd which has since gained a high reputation among breeders and in many North Island show rings. He was a keen Rugby footballer in his youth, and supported staunchly agricultural shows. His love of horses was well known throughout the district. He is survived by his widow (nee Miss F. E. Cliff, New Plymouth), and an adult family of four daughters and three sons —Mesdames Harold Brown, Wellington; A. H. Humphrey Greytown ; Ewart Trounson, Pirinoa, and H. Swan, To Awamutu; and Messrs Douglas Fairbrother, Greytown; L. J. Fairbrother, Carterton, and K. G. Fairbrother, Dalefield. ” 'Mr T. F. Fairbrother, ex-school-master at the Terrace End School, Palmerston North, and Archdeacon Rupert Fairbrother, who resides in Australia, are brothers, and Mrs Beckett, Auckland, is a sister. Three other brothers, Messrs Richard, George and William Fairbrother, and two sisters, Mrs Adam Armstrong and Mrs G. W. DeHer, wife of a former Mayor of Carterton, predeceased him.
