(From Our Own Correspondent.) GLEN OItOUA, Aug. 11. The Glen Oroua-Taikorea school boys’ Rugby team played a further match in the Penney Banner competition, when they mot the Rongotea-Carnarvon team at Ivopane. A high wind made playing conditions difficult, but Glen Oroua-Taikorea eventually emerged tho victors by 10 points to 3. Bob Murphy and Bill Garner scored I tries for the winners, Ilcg Aludford con--1 verting both, while Fred AA'cods scored for Rongofea. Mr Roy Scott refereed. The , final match of the competition will be : played against Rangiotu-Bainessc at Tai korca, on Friday afternoon. The local school girls’ basketball team played their final match against Carnarvon, at Carnar- ; von, winning by 15 goals to 2. Miss P. S. Booth refereed. Three boys of flic local school football team, Reg. Aludford, Charlie i AVebb, and Bill Garner; have been chosen , to play for Alanawatu in the schools’ quad- ' rangular tournament, to be held at AA'anganui during the August holidays. The teams taking part are AA’ellington, AA’ai- ■ rarapa, AA'angunui. and Alanawatu. At tho final match in the spools’ Ru/by competition on Friday the Penney Banner will be presented to Ihc winners of the competition and the Herbert Smith Cup to . tho runners-up.
