Commenting on the cable from Sydney with reference to a possible Tasman flight and the question of defence, Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage said that as far as it was possible to do so New Zealand was co-operating with Australia on the question of defence. “AVe are not waiting for the return of Mr Nash,” he said; “we aro going full blast in our reorganisation of the defence forces. Our objective is not to spend millions blindly but to spend whatever we have to spend intelligently. lam not too sure that that has been done in the past.”
