RECOMMENDATIONS MADE. NO ANNOUNCEMENT YET. (By Telegraph—Special to Standard.; AVELLINGTON, Aug. 11. The price committee has submitted its recommendations for the coming season’s dairy produce prices, but it will not be released, states lit. Hon. M. J. Savage until the return of Hon. IV. Nash, who, as Finance Minister and Minister of Marketing, is directly concerned. Cabinet’s decision therefore awaits consideration by Mr Nash , and it) will operate from the commencement of the new season, August 1, Having in mind the fortnight’s delay in the opening, the Prime Minister commented: “The worst that can happen is that tilt dairy farmer gets for this portion of the season what he was receiving before, and, if changes are made, lie will get the benefit of them as from August 1, so the farmers need not worry. They have nothing to lose and to wait 14 or 15 days for the announcement is not disastrous. They have been waiting years for something like security, so they will not mind waiting to see if they are going to get an increase on last year’s price or not.” The Prime Minister was asked for an indication of the financial results of the first year’s experiment, the interviewer mentioning the opinion of a prominent produce merchant that the prices later in the season were so good that the predicted deficit of millions was not likely to exceed £400,000. “Frankly, I cannot tell you the result,” answered Mr Savage. “I know that some have talked of millions deficit, but' nobody has volunteered the actual official position and I have been too busy to find out.”
