RAILWAY DEPARTMENT.

PRESENTATION FUNCTION. Tho members of tho clerical staff of the locomotive branch of the Railway Department at Palmerston North gathered on Monday afternoon to bid farewell to Mr E. Bulmer, a member of the staff for the past seven and a half years, who is transferring to the clerical division of the Hutt railway workshops at an early date. Mr F. J. Whelan (locomotivo foreman), in making tho presentation of a suitcase to the departing member, referred to the good qualities of the guest whom they were sorry to lose the staff, 'and wished him every success in his new position. Messrs E. Chaley, F. J. Robertson, T. McPhec, M. Lionert. and C. O. Sander endorsed these romarks. Mr Bulmer thanked the speakers for their kind sentiments and wishes. Mr P. Brodie, of Tauinarumii, will fill the vacant position on the staff.
