OBITUARY.
MR WILLIAM EDISON. Received August 11, 10.55 a.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 10. The death has occurred of Mr William Edison, aged 53, the son of the famous inventor, Thomas Alva Edison, who died in 1931. MISS HELEN HUGHES. SYDNEY, Aug. 10. News lias been received here of the death in London of Miss Helen Hughes, aged 22 years, daughter of Mr W. M. Hughes and Dame Mary Hughes, following a severe abdominal operation. Miss Hughes went to England for the Coronation festivities. Most of her early associations were among the higher circles of Britain, and during her girlhood, when her father was Australian Prime Minister great interest was shown in her by Queen Mary.
