Received August 11, 9.40 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 10. The New Zealanders won the cricket match with Essex by four wickets. Oowie, bowling with good pace and considerable life, enabled the tourists to dismiss the last six County batsmen before lunch. The fast bowler’s morning figures were: 18 overs, five maidens, 31 runs, four wickets. Page and Lamason took good catches in the slips. New Zealand lost four wickets quickly, but won easily. Nichols again howled as well as any last-medium bowler met on the tour. Smith was troublesome with the new ball. Evans took two wickets in the first over. Wallace batted for nearly an hour.
