New Plymouth;—The Canterbury touring Rugby team beat Taranaki by 16 points to 9. Taranaki played a poor game and were beat n by a weakened Canterbury team by four tries, two converted, to one try anti two penalty goals. Mortlock was the star of the Canterbury side. Taumarunui. —King Country C v. Taranaki B C. Greymouth.—Seddon Shield : West Coast (holders) Tost to Buller by 12 points to 11. Invercargill.—Desperate defence by Southland enabled them to beat Otago by 14 points to 11 on a rain-sodden ground. The weather was cold and stormy, but rain held off during the game, which was watched by over 6000 people. Otago gave a brilliant display in adverse conditions, the backs throwing the ball about in grand style, but stubborn tackling by the Southlanders kept Otago’s score down.
