GOOD MARGIN OVER WAIRARAPA. Though not playing as well as usual, the Manawatu representative team beat Wairarapa at Johnston Park, Feilding. on Saturday by 22 points to 8. The weather was line and the ground hard and fast, but neither team produced football of the speedy, open character in the hacks or the battling intensity in the forwards that was expected in an inter-provincial match. The curtain-raiser was provided by the Manawatu third grade representatives and the Oroua Sub-Union juniors, the home side taking the honours by 14 points to 3. In the Manawatu Union no senior club matches were played.
