ALL BLACKS’ TRAINING.
MR W. J. WALLACE TO ASSIST. WELLINGTON. Aug. 9/ It was announced last night tliat Mr W. J. the famous 1905 All Black, will assist Mr J. T. Burrows, one of the New Zealand Rugby Union selectors, in the training and coaching of the players selected to train at Otaki in preparation for the first 'Test against the South Africans on Saturday. The players will assemble at Otaki tomorrow.
Few men have had such a wide playing and administrative experience of the game as Mr Wallace, who is at present a member of the executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union. He had conspicuous success in moulding the New Zealand Maori team which toured Australia in 1935, and won nine matches out of 11. The South African team will leave this morning for their training camp near Masterton.to prepare for the Test. The Springboks’ full-back and captain on Saturday. G. H. Brand, said last night that lie was feeling no ill-effects from the knock be received in the game.
